If someone had told me a few years ago that drones would take me to the countryside and connect me with young people passionate about agriculture, I wouldn't have believed it. But here we are—flying drones over plots in Guatemala, collecting data that helps regenerate soils, and most importantly, inspiring other young people to see agriculture in a completely new light.
At RainDrop, a team of young Salvadorans, we’re proud to collaborate with Horizontes and be part of a movement that champions innovation and youth empowerment in rural areas. Through our technology, we’ve collected data across 30 program plots using multi spectral and RGB drones to measure vegetation cover and assess soil health. But beyond the technology, what truly excites us is seeing how these tools spark curiosity and open up opportunities for more young people to get involved in the agricultural sector.
During our work in Guatemala, we’ve been amazed by the diversity of the plots and the enthusiasm of farmers eager to integrate new tools into their daily practices. We've seen land with great potential for soil regeneration, and with the support of technology, we believe it's possible to boost both productivity and sustainability in the region's agriculture. Looking ahead, we envision a more connected countryside—where drones and other technological innovations become key allies for agricultural decision-making and ecosystem conservation.
Recently, we led a workshop with local youth, where we shared our experiences and taught them how drones are used in agriculture. It was truly inspiring to witness their interest and creativity as they explored the possibilities of this technology, reinforcing our belief that the future of farming will be shaped by innovation and youth leadership.
At RainDrop, we want to spread our passion for agriculture and technology. We want more young people to discover that the countryside isn't just about hoes and blazing sun—it’s also about innovation, data, and cutting-edge tools. We believe that with the right resources, agriculture can become a sector full of opportunity and growth for the next generation.
